This historic monochrome postcard features a detailed ornithological study of a pair of Lapwings, or Peewits (Vanellus vanellus), depicted at three-sixteenths natural size in a grassy field habitat. The composition shows one bird standing alert on the left displaying its prominent crest, while the second bird details the species' distinctive mottled plumage as it probes the rough ground foliage on the right. Published for the British Museum (Natural History), this card is a fine example of early twentieth-century scientific documentation prints produced to catalog native British wading birds.

This is a plain back standard size postcard which was published by The British Museum (Natural History), printed at the Oxford Univ. Press (Series C 15). The postcard was made in the United Kingdom. This is an unused postcard.
