This historic monochrome postcard depicts a detailed ornithological study of a Stone-Curlew, or Thick-Knee (Edicnemus edicnemus), shown at one-quarter natural size in a gravelly habitat. The image accurately illustrates one bird with wings partially spread while a second camouflaged bird rests nearby on the ground alongside a small clutch of patterned eggs. Published for the British Museum (Natural History), this card is a classic example of early twentieth-century wildlife documentation and academic museum publishing.

This is a plain back standard size postcard which was published by British Museum (Natural History), printed at the Oxford Univ. Press (Series C 17). The postcard was made in the United Kingdom. This is an unused postcard.

Please also use the image magnifier to make your own assessment on the condition. Please ignore any lines caused by the scanner.

When possible all of our postcards will be posted to you inside a collectable plastic postcard sleeve and a board backed envelope which will be marked 'Please do not bend'.

Any watermark does not appear on the actual postcard'.
