This intriguing museum postcard features a highly detailed ancient Chinese relief sculpture carved onto an ornamental tomb brick dating from the Han Dynasty. The artwork realistically depicts a two-storey fortified manor house or gatehouse complete with tiled overhanging roofs, watchtowers, small square windows, and figures standing guard at the gateway. This historic archaeological object offers an exceptional glimpse into traditional architectural styles and early defensive engineering design in ancient China.
