This dramatic real photo postcard captures a spectacular cloud inversion viewed from the slopes of Helvellyn, England's third-highest peak. Such weather phenomena, where warm air traps a layer of clouds in the valley below, have long fascinated fell-walkers and photographers in the Lake District. Helvellyn is a central site in early mountaineering history and was the location of a pioneering mountain rescue in the mid-19th century.
