Devon Postcard: Eddystone Lighthouse Henry Winstanley Art Historic View U76

The first Eddystone Lighthouse was a highly ornate timber structure designed and built by Henry Winstanley on the treacherous Eddystone Rocks in 1698. This historic architectural illustration details the whimsical tower's unique balconies, open cranes, and decorative motifs before it was completely swept away in the Great Storm of 1703.
