This poignant topographical postcard shows a detailed real photographic view of Lulworth Castle following the devastating fire of 1929. The image highlights the empty window apertures and structural damage to the magnificent stone towers, showing the estate as a ruined shell standing amid its wooded parkland grounds. Built originally as a hunting lodge in the early 17th century, the castle remained a roofless ruin for decades before its eventual restoration.
