Dorset Postcard: The White Horse, Weymouth, Osmington Hill Figure XT2093.

This real photo postcard captures the Osmington White Horse, a landmark hill figure cut into the limestone in 1808 to honor King George III. It is the only hill figure in Britain to depict a monarch on horseback, specifically showing the King riding his favorite horse, Adonis. Local legend famously claims the King took offense to the tribute, as he is portrayed riding away from his favorite seaside resort of Weymouth rather than towards it.

This is a used standard size postcard published by Seward's "Melcombe Series" and manufactured in Great Britain. The postcard has slight wear at the top edge.

Please also use the image magnifier to make your own assessment on the condition. Please ignore any lines caused by the scanner.

When possible all of our postcards will be posted to you inside a collectable plastic postcard sleeve and a board backed envelope which will be marked 'Please do not bend'.

Any 'Mo's Postcards' watermark does not appear on the actual postcard'.
