Essex Postcard: Colchester Castle Norman Keep Fortress Grounds 1920s XT4997

This historic topographical postcard displays a fine real photographic view of the monumental Norman keep at Colchester Castle. The composition shows the extensive weathered stone walls and prominent defensive corner towers rising behind a neat row of leafy trees lining the grassy castle park grounds. This impressive structure stands as the largest surviving example of a Norman keep built anywhere in Europe.

This is a non standard size postcard which was published by H.G.R. C.L. Series. The postcard was made in the United Kingdom. This is an unused postcard which measures 136mm x 85mm.
