France Postcard: Prades, Church of St. Pierre, Baroque Retable Altarpiece 1920's XT2110.

This postcard features the magnificent high altar (retable) of the Church of St. Pierre in Prades, a masterpiece of Baroque art created by the sculptor Joseph Sunyer between 1696 and 1699. It is widely considered the largest Baroque altarpiece in France, characterized by its intricate gold-leaf carvings and numerous statues of saints and angels. The church itself dates back to the 12th century, but this spectacular decorative work represents the height of the Catalan Baroque style in the Pyrénées-Orientales region.

This is an unused standard size postcard published by Arts Graphiques, Toulouse and manufactured in France.
