This vintage postcard features the West Magazines (storehouses) of the Palace of Knossos, showing the impressive giant ceramic storage jars known as pithoi. These vessels were used by the Minoans to store large quantities of oil, wine, and grain, which formed the agricultural wealth of the kingdom. The site remains one of the most significant archaeological discoveries on Crete, illustrating the sophisticated administrative organization of the ancient Minoan civilization.
