Hampshire Postcard: Bournemouth, Middle Chine Walk to Sea, 1900s, JWS XT2500.

Middle Chine is one of the four principal coastal ravines in Bournemouth, specifically located between Durley Chine and Alum Chine. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, these "chines" were transformed from wild, smugglers' gullies into elegantly landscaped pleasure gardens and pathways to provide Victorian and Edwardian tourists with scenic routes to the beach.
