This postcard features the historic 18th-century "Old Town Clock" which projects from the former Guildhall on Winchester High Street. The clock was presented to the city in 1713 by its Member of Parliament, Sir William Paulet, and originally sat above an open ground floor used as a covered market. It remains one of Winchester's most recognizable landmarks and is a significant piece of the city's civic history.
