Java Postcard: Tawangmangoe Mountain Resort Sports Field Village 1930s XT5466

This historic real photographic view captures the scenic sports field and pavilion buildings at Tawangmangoe, a prominent colonial hill station resort on the slopes of Mount Lawu in Central Java. The composition shows an expansive grass playing field complete with football goalposts, surrounded by manicured tall trees, local residential bungalows, and a tall lattice lookout tower. This fine monochrome print beautifully documents the recreational infrastructure and European-influenced resort layout developed in the cooler mountain altitudes of the Indonesian archipelago during the early twentieth century.
