Kent Postcard: Upstreet Grove Ferry Hotel near Margate Real Photo XT2131.
The image features the Grove Ferry Hotel (now the Grove Ferry Inn) in Upstreet, Kent, built as a coaching inn around 1830 by Edward Epps. It originally served travellers on the coaching route from Herne Bay to Dover and operated the hand-drawn ferry that crossed the River Great Stour nearby. The area was a famous destination for day trips until WWII, particularly noted for its extensive lavender gardens once farmed by the inn.
This is an unused standard size postcard published by an unidentified local photographer and manufactured in England. The postcard has a slight curved crease to the left of centre.
Please also use the image magnifier to make your own assessment on the condition. Please ignore any lines caused by the scanner.
When possible all of our postcards will be posted to you inside a collectable plastic postcard sleeve and a board backed envelope which will be marked 'Please do not bend'.
Any 'Mo's Postcards' watermark does not appear on the actual postcard'.
