This dramatic historical image documents an immense crowd of onlookers packed densely along the grassy slopes of St Anthony's Brae in Holyrood Park. The gathering assembled to watch the grand Royal Scottish Volunteer Review held before King Edward VII on 18 September 1905, with the historic ruins of St Anthony's Chapel visible perched at the crest of the hill. The scene provides a striking visual testament to the massive public interest and civic pride generated by Edwardian military spectacles in Scotland.
