This striking military illustration by artist Richard Simkin captures an officer of the Royal Horse Guards from 1833. Dressed in full ceremonial uniform, he wears a polished metal cuirass chest plate, white trousers, tall black boots, and a towering black bearskin cap with a red plume while resting his hand on his drawn sword. The detailed watercolor provides a valuable historical overview of British elite cavalry dress styles during the pre-Victorian era.
