North Yorkshire Postcard: Staithes The Cod and Lobster Inn XT2114.

The image features The Cod and Lobster Inn in the historic fishing village of Staithes, North Yorkshire, which has a long history of being repeatedly damaged by the sea. This iconic seafront pub, which dates back to at least 1823, is famous for having been washed away or severely damaged by storms on at least four occasions, most recently in 1953. Staithes itself was once a thriving center for the fishing industry and is closely associated with Captain James Cook, who worked as an apprentice in the village before his famous voyages.

This is an unused non standard size postcard published by Judges' Ltd., Hastings and manufactured in England.
