This historic topographical postcard presents a clear real photographic view of the iconic twin-towered entrance gateway at Rockingham Castle. The composition captures the massive medieval stone curtain walls and bastions positioned on the sloping grassy hill, with a curved carriage pathway leading toward the ancient archway. Constructed originally on the orders of William the Conqueror, this former royal fortress has overlooked the Welland Valley for nearly a thousand years.
