Oxfordshire Postcard: Gabled Front Of Golden Cross Hotel, Oxford XT1707

This image shows the Golden Cross Hotel, located off Cornmarket Street in Oxford. One of the city's oldest inns, it dates back to the late 12th century and features famous 15th-century timber-framed gables and wall paintings. It is historically significant for its association with the Oxford Martyrs, as the Bishops Cranmer, Latimer, and Ridley were held in custody there before their execution in 1555-56.
