Oxfordshire Postcard: Norman Arch, Woodstock Church. Zig Zag Doorway XT1844

This vintage monochrome postcard features the prominent Norman doorway on the south side of St Mary Magdalene Parish Church in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Dating back to the late 12th century, this arch is the oldest surviving part of the church. It is a classic example of Romanesque architecture, featuring two orders of bold zig-zag (chevron) moulding. The church itself is located on Park Street, near the entrance to Blenheim Palace.
