Shipping Postcard: RMMV Winchester Castle Union Castle Liner Cape Town XT5324

This historic view captures the majestic Union-Castle motor vessel R.M.M.V. Winchester Castle anchored in Table Bay. The iconic flat-topped ridge of Table Mountain rises dramatically in the background, framing the 20,001-ton passenger liner during its regular weekly mail service run. The scene provides an evocative, clear glimpse into British-South African maritime travel and colonial shipping routes during the interwar era.
