This historic sepia topographical postcard presents an evocative view of the inner courtyard at Stokesay Castle near Craven Arms. The composition beautifully highlights the grand 13th-century Great Hall with its distinctive large gothic windows, alongside the imposing stone South Tower rising defensively in the background. Constructed by wealthy wool merchant Laurence of Ludlow, this remarkably preserved medieval site stands as one of the finest surviving examples of a fortified manor house in England.
