This colourful transit scene showcases a standard-liveried red and white Croydon Tramlink tram, number 2549, leaving the historic Woodside Tunnel on 10 May 2000. The electric light rail vehicle runs along the historic trackbed of the old Woodside and South Croydon Railway which originally opened in 1885. The composition provides a wonderful contemporary historic record of late twentieth-century south London public transportation infrastructure and modern municipal commuter travel.
