This original topographical real photo postcard features the interior of the medieval Chapel of Our Lady of the Crag in Knaresborough, also known as St. Robert's Chapel. The image centers on the Marian shrine, showing a carved statue of the Madonna and Child in a niche, labeled "Our Lady of the Crac." Below the statue is a decorative stone altar or font featuring a series of carved arches. The entire chapel is a historic wayside shrine carved directly from the sandstone cliff face.
