This historic sepia topographical postcard showcases the monumental ruined king's keep of Knaresborough Castle rising above the surrounding town grounds. The composition captures the weathered medieval stone masonry, the grand arched window opening, and the beautifully landscaped stone-lined pathways winding through lush shrubbery in the castle park. Built originally by a Norman baron and heavily fortified by King Edward II, this grand cliffside stronghold overlooks the scenic River Nidd.
