Yorkshire Postcard: The Woodturner Coppergate York Jim Kershaw 1980’s XT4093

This interesting industrial scene captures a historic museum diorama displaying a Viking-age woodworker operating a traditional foot-powered pole lathe. The costumed figure represents a craftsman at work in Coppergate, York, using an overhead springy wooden pole system to spin and shape wooden bowls and utensils.

This is a continental size postcard which was published by E. T. W. Dennis & Sons Ltd., Scarborough under the Photocolour series, numbered JC/26, featuring photography by Jim Kershaw. The postcard was made in the United Kingdom. This is an unused postcard.

This postcard has slight rubbing to the bottom right hand corner tip.
